Transfer Rumours: Could Garay Be Answer To United's Defensive Woes? As They're Close In Signing A Deal

Reports from source gathered is that Manchester United are close to agreeing a deal for highly-rated Benfica centre-back Ezequiel Garay, as part of a big summer shake-up at Old Trafford.
The Argentine international, 27, has one year left on his contract in Portugal and is poised to quit this summer.
United are now in pole position for his signature and ready to fend off competition from Man City and Zenit for the ace.

Garay, who is 6ft 2in, is set to replace skipper Nemanja Vidic who is going to Inter Milan.
United intend to wrap up a deal for the defender at the end of the season before he goes to the World Cup.
Garay has a €20million release clause - worth about £17m - but United hope for a discount with his contract running out.
Under-fire boss David Moyes is planning a major summer shake-up which is likely to also see fellow defender Rio Ferdinand leave Old Trafford.
Garay spent three years at Real Madrid before moving to Portugal in 2011 and has been monitored by United previously.
But Benfica, who top the Primeira Liga, opted to hold onto Garay.

The player is set to go and his agent Rafael Bray recently said: “In the summer he will be entering the final year of his contract with Benfica, so logically there will be news.
"But at this moment, I insist, Garay is only thinking about Benfica."

Spanish giants Real Madrid are due half of any fee for Garay due to a clause from when he signed for the Portuguese side.
