DEVELOPING A PASSION FOR EXCELENT

Since the days of our basic schools education all through secondary school, as pupils and student we were taught to compete, hence the appreciation and award to best performing student positions are reflected in result sheets to place each student at rating matrix, to measure how they perform compare to other students that have gone through the same training, tutorials, test and examinations.

I have always wondered if this was a true measurement of how good a student is, because brilliance is not the same as intelligent. Some people are gifted with brilliance, they remember much quickly and accurately, and they can answer when questioned, even if they haven't studied as hard as others.

There are some others who are deep thinkers, they think through everything they are told slowly, and because they take their time to analyses questions, understand and can eventually apply. Most  of these set of people have creative minds. And there is a third category of students that combined brilliant and intelligence so i have always wondered if positioning in class is  best way tell how good a student really is. The more i think about it i began to see that the objective of positioning in class may be different or even superior to comparative purpose. I think what it does is to create in mind and behaviors of the students passion for excellence. Going to school is not just about making average of good grades, is about learning  how to be excellent. It is beyond being good, it is about being the best because life itself reward the best with the best.
