Its been a rough week for Robin Thicke as he celebrate his 37th birthday all alone for the first time in over 20 years following his split from wife Paula Patton–his long time high school sweetheart.
But it’s not his birthday that has the singer’s attention. He’s still sending messages to Paula via his latest performances, hoping she’ll hear his plea.
Last Friday night, Thicke put on a show for a packed house at Madison Square Garden, and although this would typically be a career highlight for most artists, there was an overwhelming sense of sadness in the air when he addressed all the couples in the crowd.
He said “We gotta learn to forgive each other, you know, learn to love each other, no matter who it is in your family or relationship,”. “Hold on tight to the one you love.”
Since his split from Patton on Feb. 24, Thicke has continually vowed he won’t give up on his marriage. During his Fairfax, Va. performance he told the crowd, “For y’all that don’t know, me and my wife separated but I’m trying to get my girl back. She’s a good woman. I’m going to need you guys to help me through this,” dedicating his hit “Lost Without U” to his wife–his inspiration for the song.
Later, during his March 2 concert in Atlantic City, N.J., the “Blurred Lines” singer covered Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together.” Afterward, he addressed his breakup once again saying, “Never stop believing and you never stop loving. And even if it is over, make sure you treat each other right. Treat your family right. Take care of your mom, take care of yours kids and good things will come to you. Just keep believing that God is good. That’s what gets me by. Sometimes when I get a little scared or worries about the future, I just try to stay positive and do my part to spread love and spread joy.”
We hope Patton listen to all his plea and accept him back
