NatWest and RBS 'Cyber Monday' computer meltdown EMPTIES customers' accounts and leaves millions unable to access cash

NatWest

Supermarket trolleys full of food were abandoned, mothers were unable to buy milk for babies, and motorists could not purchase fuel last night. A bank computer glitch meant customers were unable to use their debit or credit cards. Other customers logged on this morning to find they were 'overdrawn' when funds should have been available in their accounts - at a time when many are due to make loan, rent or mortgage payments. Kady Pike (left), 25, of Basingstoke, Hampshire, went to a Tesco store last night to purchase milk for her child Ted, but her card was declined three times. Natasha Lewis (right), 26, of Birmingham, could not buy petrol last night, then woke up this morning to a text message that she was overdrawn - even though there should have been money in her account. She was forced to cancel a job interview and is now concerned about a number of bills that are due to go out tomorrow.
