The Future In Mind; Cars Could Soon Be Reading Drivers Emotion

Safety has always been one of the prime motive every car manufacturer wants to ensures and achieve

Sooner in the future, dashboard emotion detectors could search for signs of irritation in a bid to identify the first signs of road rage.

A prototype of the device is able to read a driver’s facial expressions using a tiny embedded camera

Scientists at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, have developed the system which identifies which of the seven universal emotions a person is feeling: fear, anger, joy, sadness, disgust, surprise, or suspicion.

They believe their technology could be of use in medicine, marketing, gaming and in driver safety.

‘We know that in addition to fatigue, the emotional state of the driver is a risk factor, the researchers said.

‘Irritation, in particular, can make drivers more aggressive and less attentive,’ they added.

The scientists worked with PSA Peugeot Citroën to create the prototype, which had to overcome the challenge of measuring emotions in the confines of a small space without distracting the drive

Researchers at EPFL’s Signal Processing 5 Laboratory came upon the idea of adapting a facial detection device for use in a car by using an infrared camera placed behind the steering wheel.

‘The problem was to get the device to recognise irritation on the face of a driver,’ they said, because everyone expresses this emotional state differently.

Research leaders Hua Gao and Anil Yüce chose to track only two expressions: anger and disgust, whose manifestations are similar to those of anger.

AND VOLVO ADDS A SCANNER THAT APPLIES THE BRAKES WHEN IT DETECTS A BICYCLE SWERVING INTO A CAR

Volvo has launched a revolutionary safety device that scans for cyclists and automatically brakes if a collision is imminent.

The Swedish car firm says the camera and radar-guided technology, which is being introduced into cars from May, could save hundreds of lives.

The system comprises a radar scanner in the grille, a camera fitted in front of the rear-view mirror, and an onboard computer. It allows the car to identify cyclists who swerve into its path and reacts by slamming on the brakes.

The driver is given a loud audible warning and a visible warning of a row of red lights flashing up on the windscreen.

The new cyclist detector system comprises a radar scanner set into the car’s grille, a camera fitted in front of the rear-view mirror, and a computerised central control unit.

The radar measures the distance to any suspicious object while the camera compares its shape and size against an electronic visual catalogue of thousands of images – including bicycles and cyclists. It can even differentiate between a pedal cyclist and a motor cyclist.

Radar: Computers calculate any possible collision and - if the driver ignores initial warnings - apply the brakes

The Philanthropic C.Ronaldo; Pays For 10 Month Baby Operation

Cristiano Ronaldo  shows his also a philanthropist by offering to pay for the operation of a 10 month old baby born with a neurological disorder.
Erik Ortiz Cruz suffers up to 30 epileptic fits a day and surgery is the only solution to his condition.

The boy's family have been unable to meet massive hospital bills with each test carried out costing around £5,020 (6,000 euros) and surgery likely to run to £50,240 (60,000 euros).

So big-hearted Ronaldo, touched by the boy’s local community’s attempts to raise the money themselves, has stepped in to fund the life changing medical care.

The player was at first asked to donate boots and a shirt to a fund-raising auction but decided to go the extra mile and foot the bill.

Earlier in the year Ronaldo celebrated his Ballon D’Or win with children suffering from Leukaemia keeping a promise made on Spanish radio last year.

Ronaldo met the children on radio Cope show Partido de la 12 in November and said if he won he would celebrate with them.

Facebook Owner Calls Obama To Expressed His Displeasure Over Spying

Facebook Inc Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg expressed his displeasures to the U.S. government's electronic surveillance practices on Thursday, saying he'd personally called President Barack Obama to voice his complains.

"When our engineers work tirelessly to improve security, we imagine we're protecting you against criminals, not our own government," Zuckerberg said in a post on his personal Facebook page.
"I've called President Obama to express my frustration over the damage the government is creating for all of our future. Unfortunately, it seems like it will take a very long time for true full reform," the 29-year-old Zuckerberg continued.

The phone call and Zuckerberg's 300-word missive on Thursday came in connection to series of revelations about controversial government surveillance practices that were leaked by former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden.

"The president spoke last night with Mark Zuckerberg about recent reports in the press about alleged activities by the U.S. intelligence community," a White House official said.

Facebook, which operates the world's No. 1 Internet social network with 1.2 billion users, declined to comment beyond Zuckerberg's post.

Secret documents published on news website The Intercept on Wednesday showed that the NSA impersonated Facebook web pages in order to gather information from targets. When those people thought they were logging into Facebook, they were actually communicating with the NSA. The agency then used malicious code on the fake page to break into the targets' computers and remove data from them.

Last year, Facebook moved to encrypt all its pages, making such impersonation more difficult.
Previous media reports based on leaked Snowden documents detail how the government may have tapped into communications cables that link data centers owned by Google Inc and Yahoo Inc, intercepting user data without the companies' knowledge or cooperation.

"The US government should be the champion for the internet, not a threat. They need to be much more transparent about what they're doing, or otherwise people will believe the worst," Zuckerberg said in his post.

Top 5 Ways of keeping Your Girl Happy

Are you present having  issues with your girlfriend/fiancee/wife and don't know the best way to make her happy, or you experiencing boredom with your relationship and worried on how to tune it back rightly.... Follow this tips and it would surely help you in getting your lady back!

1. Make her feel she is the only woman in the world: Every woman wants to be treated specially and feeling special. Tell her sweet words, words she likes to hear and prove to her that you're for real with actions. Also get used to the idea that she wants other people to see how much you love her, so don't be afraid to kiss her or hold her hand in public. Tell her she's beautiful. You have to show her that you mean what you said. If you're really sincere when you tell her how beautiful she is to you, you're going to go a long way.

  • Also, tell her that she drives you crazy, and that she's the prettiest thing ever. Tell her that you've never met anyone like her.
  • Compliment her on her looks, but also on her accomplishments, talents and abilities. If she's a great singer, tell her she's smart. If she's a good listener, tell her she's great with other people

2. Be Full Of Surprises: Study reveals that woman loved to be surprised, getting swept off their feet with the unexpected. As a man that truly wants to keep his woman happy, you need to be spontaneous, creative, unpredictable about your next move, be full of surprises, knowing what she likes and surprising her with it in the best romantic manner

3.Share your everyday events and thoughts with your girl. Being open and communicative makes her feel like you want her in your life. Being intimate isn't just about getting to know her body; it's also about sharing the things that happen to you, and going through them together.
  • On the same note, listen to her advice, even if you don't agree. Force yourself to listen and to see her reasoning. Keep an open ear and an open mind. She'll reward you with all of her love.
  • Even if you don't have much to say, let her in on what you're thinking. If you're the strong, silent type, she may misinterpret your feelings for her. Let her know what you're thinking so that she doesn't get the wrong idea.
4 Touch her regularly and on the spur of the moment. Even the slightest touch can make a woman feel special. Make sure it's a respectful and gentle touch, and not one that's overly sexual or suggestive.
  • Hold her hand, give her a hug, rub her back, or gently touch her face. These gestures will all make her feel protected and loved!
  • There's a time and a place for foreplay, but you're not doing yourself any favors if you go there when she's not ready. Make sure she's totally comfortable before you start exploring your sexual relationship
5. Be confident and always be yourself: Girls love guys who are really confident in who they are. Remember, you don't have to be celebrity to be confident. Being confident is all about knowing who you are, knowing what you like and dislike, and being calm and collected.
  • Pay attention to what you look like. Shower or bathe yourself regularly, and put on clean, nice-looking clothes. Girls don't need you to look like a male model, but they want other girls to take notice of what a catch you are, and how well you take care of yourself.
  • Learn to crack a joke. A joke is a great way of projecting your inner confidence. Studies show that men with a sense of humor are very desirable as mates. So, practice jokes, learn which parts of you are funny, and don't be afraid to make fun of yourself. A man with a good sense of humor screams confidence.
  • Never lie. How would you feel if she started lying to you? Lying is a trust issue, and trust for girls is huge. Give her the same trust she gives you

Is Google Venturing Into Game Business? BuyS Smartphone Game Controller Company

Several rumours about an impending Google games console and set top box is becoming a reality as the giant firm confirms the purchase of Green Throttle Games

Google confirmed the acquisition, and stated that founder Charles Huang - who developed Guitar Hero - would keep the rights to the business, but did not reveal how much the deal was worth.

Reports about a potential Google console began last July, and were closely followed by rumours the firm was working on a set-top box - both of which would benefit from parts of Green Throttle Games' business.

The Green Throttle service is a games console in the form of an app. This app can be added to tablets, phones and other smart devices and used to link with smart TVs, for example.

Games can then be played using an Atlas control pad, which looks similar to the Xbox controller, and up to four pads can be connected via Bluetooth.

As part of the deal, Google has bought the app and controller parts of the business, and hired Green Throttle's founders Huang, Matt Crowley and Karl Townsend.

The Arena app was removed last year unexpectedly. Green Throttle said at the time: ‘Beginning November 8th, 2013, our Arena app will no longer be available on Google Play or the Amazon Appstore for Android and all backend support for the app will cease.

The Wall Street Journal were the first to report on plans for an Android-based Google games console. The report said the console would be released 'in the near future' but did not add any more details. Designers then developed concept videos, pictured, of what the console could look like

Designers then developed concept videos of what the console could look like.
The same month, the Wall Street Journal reported Google was working on a prototype set-top box similar to the Roku box, or Apple TV, set to be released the first half of this year.

It is expected to stream content currently available on Google's Play store.
These reports surfaced at a similar time Amazon was reportedly working on a similar device and more recent rumours claim Amazon’s version could be released by the end of the month.

Instead of launching a games console, Google could use the Green Throttle Bluetooth technology to power an upcoming set-top box or controller.
In reality, an upcoming device could be a combination of the two and rival the likes of Microsoft's Xbox One.

The Future Of Samsung Galaxy- Turing Fingers Into Keybood With The Aid Of Galaxy Glass

Samsung plans for the future of Galaxy world of wearables - with its first step in creating Gear range of smartwatches - and presently rumours suggest it’s gearing up to launch a Google Glass rival in the autumn.

These reports were bolstered this week by a Samsung patent that not only hints at an upcoming wearable device – it details a system in which wearers could turn their hands into the keyboard.

In the proposed system, people wearing a camera - on a Google Glass-style device dubbed Galaxy Glass - would be able to look down at their hands, which would be mapped using a virtual keyboard, and use their thumbs to select the keys.

The reports said'

"It relates to 'an input apparatus and method for providing a camera-assisted input operation for use in a portable device.'

‘Recently there is much interest in the wearable computers such as glasses-type terminal and wristwatch terminals,’ continued the patent.

‘Such wearable computers are even more limited in space for mounting an input means such as button type keypad and touchscreen.'

The system involves a camera for capturing an image, a storage unit that stores the ‘key to hand mapping table’, a display and a control unit.
Numbers could be assigned to a forefinger, for example, while symbols could be assigned to the middle finger. Alternatively, letters could be plotted at various points across the fingers and palm from top to bottom.

HOW WOULD THE SYSTEM WORK?

In the proposed system, people wearing the camera - on a Google Glass-style device dubbed Galaxy Glass - would be able to look down at their hands, which would be mapped using a virtual keyboard.

For example, numbers could be assigned to a forefinger, while symbols could be assigned to a middle finger.

Alternatively, letters could be plotted at various points across the fingers and palm from top to bottom.

Users would then use their thumb to 'press' the various keys on both hands.

The camera would capture the movement of the thumb, or identify the force pressed onto each finger to establish which key had been pressed and type the message accordingly.

Get Love Advise From Robin Thicke After Split From Wife

Its been a rough week for Robin Thicke as he celebrate his 37th birthday all alone for the first time in over 20 years following his split from wife Paula Patton–his long time high school sweetheart.

But it’s not his birthday that has the singer’s attention. He’s still sending messages to Paula via his latest performances, hoping she’ll hear his plea.

Last Friday night, Thicke put on a show for a packed house at Madison Square Garden, and although this would typically be a career highlight for most artists, there was an overwhelming sense of sadness in the air when he addressed all the couples in the crowd.

He said “We gotta learn to forgive each other, you know, learn to love each other, no matter who it is in your family or relationship,”. “Hold on tight to the one you love.”

Since his split from Patton on Feb. 24, Thicke has continually vowed he won’t give up on his marriage.  During his Fairfax, Va. performance he told the crowd, “For y’all that don’t know, me and my wife separated but I’m trying to get my girl back.  She’s a good woman.  I’m going to need you guys to help me through this,” dedicating his hit “Lost Without U” to his wife–his inspiration for the song.

Later, during his March 2 concert in Atlantic City, N.J., the “Blurred Lines” singer covered Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together.” Afterward, he addressed his breakup once again saying, “Never stop believing and you never stop loving. And even if it is over, make sure you treat each other right. Treat your family right. Take care of your mom, take care of yours kids and good things will come to you. Just keep believing that God is good. That’s what gets me by. Sometimes when I get a little scared or worries about the future, I just try to stay positive and do my part to spread love and spread joy.”

We hope Patton listen to all his plea and accept him back

Top 11 Box Office Movies Of The Week and Income As '300' Sequel Conquers Box Office

While it didn't come close to matching its predecessor, 300: Rise of An Empire still managed to dominate the weekend with over $45 million. Also opening this weekend, Mr. Peabody & Sherman became the latest DreamWorks Animation movie to disappoint at the domestic box office.

Playing at 3,470 locations, 300: Rise of an Empire's $45.03 million debut was off 36 percent from the original 300, which opened on the same weekend in 2007. Adjusting for ticket price inflation and 3D premiums, Rise of an Empire sold roughly half as many tickets. Still, it was a step up from other comparable titles like G.I. Joe: Retaliation ($40.5 million), 10,000 B.C. ($35.9 million), Wrath of the Titans ($33.5 million) and Immortals ($32.2 million).

Rise of an Empire
was never expected to match the original 300 at the domestic box office. While marketing did a solid job positioning the movie as a revenge tale, the story just wasn't as compelling this time around. Also, the visual style that was so original back in 2007 has become played out thanks to imitators (Immortals) and parodies (Meet the Spartans).

Still, Warner Bros. rolled out an aggressive marketing effort reminiscent of those for major Summer blockbusters. And while some of the earlier marketing was unfocused, the run up to release featured better material (the "War Pigs" commercial was particularly strong). It also helped that Rise of an Empire had some interesting new elements, most notably the sea battles and Eva Green's villain.

As expected, Rise of an Empire's audience skewed male (62 percent). No age information was provided. They awarded the movie a weak "B" CinemaScore, which suggests it will fall off quickly in the coming weeks. If it can manage to play like the first movie, it will earn over $130 million total.

It's worth noting that Rise of an Empire got a serious boost from premium-priced tickets. 3D showings accounted for 63 percent of earnings, which is abnormally high: in comparison, Thor: The Dark World's 3D share was 39 percent. The movie also did strong business in IMAX, where it earned $6.8 million

 Around-the-World Roundup

300: Rise of an Empire
dominated the international box office with $88.8 million this weekend. According to Warner Bros., it was up 11 percent from the first movie across the same 58 markets. It reached all major territories except Japan (June) and China (undated). Top markets include Russia ($9.2 million), France ($7.2 million), Korea ($6.5 million), Brazil ($5.8 million) and Mexico ($5.5 million) and India ($3 million).

Similar to the U.S., fellow English-speaking countries Australia and the U.K. showed less interest this time around. It earned $4.8 million in the U.K. and $2.8 million in Australia, while the first movie opened to $9.3 million and $4.3 million, respectively.

Feeling Bored With Your Date; New App That Get You Out Of A Bad Date

Traditionally, if you’re going on a date and are worried it might not work out, you’d ask a friend to call you with some sort of emergency.

Tickle app takes the hassle out of this by detecting when you feel uncomfortable and automatically making an urgent, but fake, phone call.

It uses the iPhone’s built-in accelerometer to pick up so-called ‘awkward’ movements, such as finger scratches or shakes, to work out you're in distress.

Tickle was created in San Francisco by designers Alex Cornell and Phil Mills.

WATCH VIDEO

At the moment the app is a concept, but Cornell told MailOnline he isn't ruling out the possibility of making it due to the response it has received.

‘Tickle was born at an awkward dinner,' explained the designers

‘You know the one, where someone decided to invite 24 people and it came time to pay the bill.

'Rather than take another trip to the bathroom, we invented an app that lets you realistically escape any and all awkward situations you encounter.’

Tickle can either be turned on or off. Once it has been installed, the app is always ‘listening’ for signs of an awkward gesture or motion.

The fake caller can be customised with a photo and name of the user’s choice, but it doesn’t feature a fake conversation - Cornell and Mills said users will have to make that up themselves.

A description video shows how the app is sensitive enough to recognise ‘tickles’ through a trouser pocket.

The Tickle website claims the app is in private beta and will be released to the public soon. Interested users can also join a waiting list to use the app.

HOW DOES THE TICKLE APP WORK?

The Tickle app concept uses an iPhone's built-in accelerometer to detect movement.

When a user scratches or shakes the phone, in what the designers call an 'awkward' way, it triggers the Tickle app.

This generates a fake call that lets users escape awkward situations like dates or being stuck in lifts with colleagues.

Tickle's website claims the app is in private beta and will be released to the public 'soon.'

However, I couldn't find any school here with the facilities to accept him and was constantly rejected.
