Is Kim Kardashian the modern day Marilyn Monroe?

Los Angeles - Kanye West thinks Kim Kardashian is like a modern day Marilyn Monroe.

The Bound 2 hitmaker has blasted Vanity Fair magazine for featuring supermodel Kate Upton, 21, styled to look like the Some Like It Hot star, on the cover of its recent 100th anniversary issue and hailed his fiancĂ©e, 33, for being similar to the late legendary actress because she divides public opinion and is controversial.

The rapper told Chicago's Power 105.1 radio station on Tuesday: "I have a love hate relationship with the paparazzi but actually I love them because they empower us over ya know Vanity Fair and Graydon Carter that wanna say Kate Upton is Marilyn Monroe. Kate Upton ain't Marilyn Monroe. Kim is Marilyn Monroe, you know that. She was controversial. She [is] controversial."

'I'm living inside of a dream world'

Meanwhile, Kanye believes he is similar to the late animator Walt Disney and Renaissance artist Michelangelo.

He said: "I'm more like, a Walt Disney or something. Like, rap is just a chamber of my thoughts. It's something that I really wanted to express as a modern-day poet, because you know, if I had lived in a past lifetime, maybe I would have been a playwright or something. But in this lifetime, to be the most heard and the most relevant, the most relevant is to be a rap rock star. You can express at the highest level there."

He added: "I'm like Howard Hughes! I'm like [NBA commissioner] David Stern! I'm like Steve Jobs!"
The 36-year-old star also brushed off the idea that he may not be worthy of such comparisons.

He said: "If anything, that's a compliment to them! I'm like Michelangelo. Because I'm the new version of that. This is a reality. I'm living inside of a dream world."

Osun speaker condemns attack on school principal

Osogbo - The Speaker of Osun House of Assembly, Najeem Salaam, has condemned the mob attack on principal, teachers and students of  Baptist High School, Ejigbo, Osun, by youths.

Salaam told newsmen on Wednesday in Osogbo that the attack was unnecessary and uncalled for.

Muslim youths had on Tuesday invaded the Baptist High School, Ejigbo, and beat up the Principal, Layi Oguntola as well as some teachers and students.

It was alleged that the attackers, mobbed the principal because the school authorities stopped some Muslims pupils from wearing ‘hijab’.

The speaker, who described the incident as sad and unfortunate, said the crisis did not have anything to do with the school merger programme of the state government.

“The crisis at the Baptist high school was sad, but we thank God it has been resolved and normalcy has been restored to the school.”

“The crisis does not have anything to do with the merger of public schools by the state government.”

Najeem said the state government would not relent in its efforts to provide environment that is conducive to learning, adding that the school reclassification programme in the state was in the best interest of the citizenry.

Borno raids kill 40 terrorists

Abuja – More than 40 suspected members of the Boko Haram sect have reportedly been killed in air and land raids of the terrorists’ hideouts in the terror-ridden Borno State.

CAJ News gathered that the military recorded the major success in its war on terror when they launched the air and land raid on Bita village along Damboa- Gwoza road of the state.

Bita is a village which is located about 32 kilometres west of Gwoza, a town which is about 135 kilometres away from Maiduguri, the state capital. The town had witnessed series of attacks from the sect in recent times.

A security source who is not authorized to talk to the media revealed that the offensive was carried out earlier this week.

The raid follows a recent visit by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Azubuike Iherijika who challenged the military to be steadfast and more dedicated to the fight against the insurgents.

“The recent attacks launched by the troops of the Division beginning from this week was a huge success, as one of the stronghold/camps of the terrorists were destroyed with the killing of unspecified number of suspected Boko Haram insurgents,” said the source.

CAJ News could not get official confirmation as the lack of network in Borno State, as result of the state of emergency, made it impossible to contact security outfit spokespersons at the time of going to press.

CAR hopes for action on marauding gangs

Bangui - As France announced its intention to send hundreds of more troops to Central African Republic, residents expressed their impatience for action on marauding gangs who murder, rape and burn down villages with impunity.
It has been the talk of Bangui for weeks: why have 400 French troops already stationed at the capital's airport not been deployed to put a stop to rebel groups spreading terror across the nation?
Central Africans got their answer on Tuesday when France said it would deploy about 1 000 soldiers to take on an active fighting role alongside a flagging African-led "stabilisation mission", as long as the United Nations Security Council agreed to the move.
"France should have intervened a long time ago to stop this downward spiral," said Martin Baba, former president of the country's economic and social council. "The country has never known such a prolonged period of instability and violence."
Reports have described a litany of horrors in the landlocked, sprawling country, with security forces and militia gangs torturing villagers, carrying out public execution-style killings and perpetrating widespread rapes.
Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said France has proposed a UN resolution that would authorise international troops to use force in its former colony, a piece of diplomatic wrangling requiring Security Council signoff that has perplexed residents who believe their presence is already overdue.
Computer technician Prince Saturnin Goulam told AFP in Bangui on Tuesday "they should have been there all along, to rid the country of this horde of criminals who have gone too far".
Religious tensions
The UN estimates that at least 400 000 people, or 10% of the population, have been forced from their homes by the crisis.
Against this backdrop, sending more French soldiers "can only bring relief", said Jude Zosse, editor of the L'hirondelle newspaper.
A power vaccum yawned open in March in the mineral-rich Central African Republic after a rebel movement known as the Seleka coalition ousted the former president, Francois Bozize.
The rebels' leader, Michel Djotodia, installed himself as the country's first Muslim president and later disbanded the group, but has failed to keep his former comrades under control.
Militia groups have also appeared to protect Christian communities, which make up about 80% of the population, threatening to inflame religious tensions, with France and the United States even warning of a future genocide.
"The security situation of the country has forced our allies to act, headed up by France, to avoid the worst," said Enoch Derant Lakoue, a former prime minister and holder of several ministerial posts in the past.
Lakoue had high hopes for any eventual mission. "France will know how to restore order and bring hope to the Central African people," he said.

WHAT BLACK FRIDAY IS IN THE US. DO NOT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY THIS ONLY COME ONCE IN A YEAR

Black Friday is the Friday following Thanksgiving Day in the United States, often regarded as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. For 2013, Black Friday is the 29th of November, 2013. In recent years, all major retailers have opened extremely early and offered promotional sales to kick off the holiday shopping season. The promotions have resulted in extremely huge discounts on all items from fashion to electronics that shoppers now flock into stores for these massive savings.

In recent years, these savings have also been extended to online stores where such stores now offer great and amazing savings on virtually all items in their inventory. Black Friday is not a federal holiday, but California and some other states observe "The Day After Thanksgiving" as a holiday for state government employees, sometimes in lieu of another federal holiday such as Columbus Day. Many non-retail employees and schools have both Thanksgiving and the day after off, followed by a weekend, thereby increasing the number of potential shoppers. It has routinely been the busiest shopping day of the year since 2005, although news reports, which at that time were inaccurate have described it as the busiest shopping day of the year for a much longer period of time.

For many years, it was common for retailers to open at 6:00 a.m., but in the late 2000's many had crept to 5:00 or even 4:00. This was taken to a new extreme in 2011, when several retailers (including Target, Kohl's, Macy's, Best Buy, and Bealls) opened at midnight for the first time. In 2012, Walmart and several other retailers announced that they would open most of their stores at 8:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day Black Friday shopping is known for attracting aggressive crowds, with annual reports of assaults, shootings, and throngs of people trampling on other shoppers in an attempt to get the best deal on a product before supplies run out.

With the vast increase in online shopping most customers who cant stand the crowd of going to the physical stores now sit at home and enjoy the saving savings by buying the items online. So instead of worrying about rushing to the stores, simply relax in front of your computer and enjoy the same deals. Just be sure to be ready to order as soon as the clock hits 12am on Friday,29th November, 2013.

Group condemns attack on Stella Oduah

Abuja - The Middlebelt Progressive Forum (MPF), a local pressure group, condemned the attack on the Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, and called on the Inspector General of Police and other security agencies to commence immediate investigations into the incident.

“The attack on the Minister calls for serious concern, especially at this period that certain forces have continued to threaten that she must either resign or be sacked for her action or inaction in the controversial purchase of two bullet proof cars by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA),” Danladi Kumsha, the National Coordinator of the group said.

The Minister, who has been under pressure to resign following a number of plane crashes and a controversial car tender, was not in her car when gunmen fired shots into it.

“The recent fatal dimension of wanting the minister dead came to us as a big surprise. We thank God that the Honourable Minister was not in the car when the incident took place, otherwise the story would have been different by now. Life threatening issues like this must not be treated with kid gloves or politicized. It must not be swept under the carpet; hence we call for full blown investigation,” said Kumsha.

He called on authorities to intensify investigations.

“In fact, the police would have to explore all possible leads particularly whether there is a nexus between the on-going probe of the bullet proof cars purchase deal and the unholy concession agreements in the aviation sector which Ms Oduah’s administration is reviewing and some ethnic zealots who had called for the Minister’s head.”

Edo State probes illegal overseas visits

Abuja - Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has inaugurated a panel to investigate officials that allegedly travelled to Italy at the expense of the taxpayer without approval from the state.

Inaugurating the Committee in Benin City, Oshiomhole said his government’s decision was is in line with the Local Government Act.

Barrister Osagie Obayuwana chairs the committee.

Senior officials Orhionmwon Local Government including the Chairman, Vice Chairman and Councillors of the area have been suspended following the trip to Europe.

“In line with the Local Government Act, when a local government official has misbehaved, we are obliged in law to set up an inquiry in order to give those who are accused of wrongdoing the opportunity to explain themselves. In accordance with the law, the House of Assembly has approved the suspension, while this inquiry is on, initially for a period of two months. I believe the issues are not so complicated that they cannot be established within the timeframe of the panel that is within a month or a month and half,” said Oshiomhole.

He said he learnt of the overseas trip by the suspended officials through media.

“It is now a matter of public secret that the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary and Councillors of Orhionmwan Local Government left the country allegedly to Italy all at the same time without anybody’s permission. I only got to know of it when I was watching news on TV and saw people protesting that the entire government was out of the country. I was concerned. I made some preliminary checks and found that there was some truth in it.”

Fears of renewed war in Sudan's East

Khartoum - Renewed war is increasingly likely in Eastern Sudan, seven years after a peace agreement promised to address complaints of economic and political neglect, a report warned on Tuesday.
"Unless the East's marginalisation is adequately addressed, renewed war is a growing possibility," said the Brussels-based International Crisis Group (ICG).
The 2006 Eastern Sudan Peace Agreement ended years of low-level insurgency in Sudan's East, which borders Eritrea and includes Red Sea, Kassala and Gedaref states.
Members of the Muslim-non-Arab Beja people, camel herders by tradition, fought alongside Free Lions rebels of the Rashaida tribe against what they said was marginalisation by the Arab-dominated Khartoum regime.
The peace deal is one of several agreements Khartoum has signed during the past eight years in an attempt to solve rebellions and conflicts across the country.
It promised power-sharing, funds for development, and rebel reintegration into Sudan's security forces or civilian life.
But many of the deal's core provisions have not been implemented and there has been no substantive "peace dividend" to most people in the East, ICG said.
It added that "social and economic conditions are gradually deteriorating, communal relations are fraying, and the prospects of preserving the fragile peace are fading fast."
Calls for resumption of armed opposition have been growing, ICG said, calling for a "comprehensive national mechanism" to address the root causes of Sudan's conflicts between the centre and outlying regions.
A decade-long rebellion continues in western Darfur, while insurgencies began two years ago in South Kordofan and Blue Nile states.

Arsenal stay in control

London - Jack Wilshere has scored two goals, the first after only 27 seconds, as Arsenal beat Marseille 2-0 on Tuesday to move to within touching distance of the Champions League last 16.
Wilshere rewarded Arsenal's dominance with a second goal in the 65th minute, after Mesut Ozil had seen a penalty saved, to leave Arsene Wenger's side three points clear of Borussia Dortmund and Napoli at the top of Group F.
Arsenal can now secure their progress to the knockout rounds for the 11th successive season by avoiding defeat in their final group game at Napoli on December 11.
However, Napoli's loss to Dortmund in Tuesday's other group game means that should Arsenal lose in Naples, and Dortmund win in Marseille, qualification would be decided by goal difference in the three games between Arsenal, Dortmund and Napoli.
Arsenal manager Wenger made three changes to the team that beat Southampton 2-0 on Saturday, with Nacho Monreal, Tomas Rosicky and former Marseille midfielder Mathieu Flamini coming into the team.
With Marseille already eliminated, coach Elie Baup fielded a weakened team. Mathieu Valbuena was among five first-team players on the bench, and it did not take long for the visitors to fall behind.
Bacary Sagna freed Wilshere on the Arsenal right and the England midfielder lazily stepped inside Lucas Mendes's challenge before steadying himself and curling a left-foot shot into the top-left corner.
It would have been 2-0 six minutes later, after Olivier Giroud set Wilshere free again and he squared for Aaron Ramsey, but from 10 yards the in-form Welshman saw his shot cannon back off Steve Mandanda's chest.
Marseille's response was timid, Andre-Pierre Gignac heading over and then over-running the ball inside the Arsenal box, but the hosts failed to exploit an invitation to extend their lead shortly before half-time.
Ramsey appeared fortunate to win a penalty after tangling with Nicolas N'Koulou, the challenge occurring just outside the 18-yard box, but Ozil saw his spot-kick pushed away by Mandanda.
Arsenal continued to press early in the second period, but Giroud saw a shot deflected inches wide by Kassim Abdallah and when Wilshere released Ozil with an inventive chip, Mandanda flew out to save.
The entrances of Valbuena and Florian Thauvin as substitutes threatened to make it an uncomfortable closing half hour for Wenger's men, but in the 65th minute they scored the second goal that their persistence merited.
Ramsey was the instigator, sliding a subtle pass down the inside-right channel for Ozil, and the German partly atoned for his failed penalty attempt by centring for Wilshere to side-foot home his second goal.
Thauvin gave the Premier League leaders a couple of scares as the game approached its closing stages, but goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny showed his alertness by saving sharply on each occasion.
Substitutes Santi Cazorla and Theo Walcott both spurned chances to seal matters for Arsenal in the dying stages, the Spaniard blazing over and the fit-again England winger toeing wide, but Marseille were already beaten.

KAYE CALL ON FANS TO BOYCOTT LOUIS VUITTON AFTER COMPANY'S VP SNUBBED HIM

Kanye West is mad that the Vice President of Louis Vuitton (pictured left) snubbed him & has asked his fans to boycott the giant fashion brand. Yeah right, Kanye!

Explaining what happened during a radio interview yesterday, Kanye said LV vice-president Yves Carcelle refused to meet with him recently in Paris when he made a request to see him.
"I was made for this moment. What happened was while I was out in Paris I wanted to meet with the head of Louis Vuitton, he said I don't understand why we need to meet with you. 'I said, "let me explain to you why you need to meet with me."
'Everybody in New York City right now don't buy any Louis Vuitton until after January.
Referring to the LV boss Kanye said 'Now do you want to meet with me? Now do you want to meet with me? Influence. They think that I don't realise my power.'
Lol, Kanye! No be only boycott, na girlcott. But Mr Carcelle used to hang out with Kanye, I wonder what happened? Hmmm. But would the LV boss have turned Jay Z down? Just asking! *runsaway

GUNMEN ATTACK AVIATION MINISTER STELLA ODUAH'S CAR POLICE REPORT

The FCT Police Command on Monday in Abuja confirmed that gunmen fired shots at the car of the Minister of Aviation, Ms Stella Oduah in Abuja. The spokesperson of the command, Altine Daniel, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the incident occurred at about 10 p.m. on Friday.

She added that the minister was not in the car when the incident took place.

Ms. Daniel, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, however, said that the incident was reported to the police on Monday at about 5:30 p.m. According to her, some metal objects were found in the vehicle which do not look like the conventional bullet. “The objects will be subjected to ballistic test,” she said. According to her, investigation into the incident has begun. Continue...

Also confirming the shooting, the Special Adviser to the minister, Joe Obi, said that the attack took place at the Ministers’ Hill, Maitama in Abuja.
“Fortunately, the minister was not in the car at the time the attack took place.
“An official report has been made to the police and the police are currently investigating it,” Mr. Obi said.

Mrs. Oduah has been in the news recently over her roles in the controversial inflated purchase of two bullet proof cars by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, for N255 million; with many Nigerians calling for her sack and prosecution.
President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday confirmed that he had received the report of a three-man committee set up to probe the role of the minister in the scandal.

NAMA ORDERED TO SUSPEND NEW CHARGES ON PRIVATE JET OWNER

                                        images

SENATE Committee on Aviation yesterday ordered the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, NAMA, to suspend the recent charges it imposed on local and foreign registered private airline operators, on non-scheduled flights in Nigeria.
The Committee in a tripartite meeting with NAMAmanagement and private aircraft operators on non-scheduled flights said what was required at the moment was consultations and advocated for a stakeholders’ retreat immediately to iron out the cause of the current dispute between the operators and  regulatory agencies in the aviation industry.
Chairman of Senate Committee on Aviation, Hope Uzodinma advised private airline operators andNAMA to choose a date for the meeting to take a position on the matter but asked that the new charges be suspended until after proper consultations.
Uzodinma also asked NAMA to immediately convey a stakeholders meeting in collaboration with the Ministry of Aviation for the purpose of consulting with the operators and adopt a levy that would be mutually acceptable to all parties.
NAMA had recently introduced a new pay-as-you-go charge regime whereby foreign registered airline operators were expected to pay a flat levy of $3, 000, while their indigenous counterparts were levied $2, 500 on each flight embarked upon by their aircraft.
It was gathered that before the new levy, the operators were charged based on their routes, navigational terminal and weight of their aircraft and the various amounts were paid to different aviation agencies operating at the nation’s airports.
Spokesperson of the private airlines operators on non-schedule flights in Nigeria, Alhaji Bala Ibn Na’allah, had described the new levies introduced by NAMA as discriminatory because the arrangement was not applicable to airline operators on scheduled flights.
Ibn Na’allah agreed that the Civil Aviation Act 2006 section 30 (2) gives power to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority to charge levies  but argued that such should not be imposed without adequate consultations with relevant stakeholders.
He said, “We want to be led by the rule of law. NCAA did not consult us before imposing levies on us. We are urging the senators to impress upon the NCAA to always carry us along through consultations because section 70 (1) C of the act did not allow them to do whatever will be detrimental to the nation.
“For every take off, we are paying $2,500. Why are we paying in dollars when it is not our local currency in the country and NAMA did not see anything bad in implementing such discriminatory policy?
“It is discriminatory for NCAA to charge different levies for scheduled and non-scheduled flights. The law recommends payments either in local or hard currency but NAMA does not collect naira.”
But Director General of NAMA, Mazi Nnamdi Udoh, noted that airlines operators were very crucial to the nation even as he corrected the assumption that his agency forced the operators to pay in dollars.
Udoh said, “They are also at liberty to pay in naira. Payment in dollars is at their liberty. The provisions of section 30 were being used in the past to collect levies. The charges would make them to ensure sanity.
“Before the new one-stop-shop payment, We were charging navigation, landing, parking and terminal navigation levies but services being offered in Nigeria must also conform to international best practices.
“They don’t pay five percent charges out of the revenues they make. Safety is not cheap, the new levies are desirable because we have to maintain standards at all times.”
Udoh commended the senate committee for its timely intervention and pledged to revert to the status quo ante.
