The future Queen? She's behind you! Extraordinary collection of pictures emerge of young Princess Elizabeth starring in Royal pantomimes with sister Margaret during World War Two
Princess Elizabeth was 15 and Princess Margaret just 11 when the pair starred in their first panto, Cinderella, in the Waterloo Chamber in Windsor Castle in December 1941. The signed photographs of the performance were carefully bound away in scrapbooks alongside scripts, programmes and a hoard of personal letters - by their friend and fellow thespian Cyril Woods. The portraits include Princess Elizabeth as the handsome Prince in Sleeping Beauty - with Margaret as Fairy Thistledown - and the young Queen taking the leading role in Aladdin.
