Group condemns attack on Stella Oduah
Abuja - The Middlebelt Progressive Forum (MPF), a local pressure group, condemned the attack on the Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, and called on the Inspector General of Police and other security agencies to commence immediate investigations into the incident.
“The attack on the Minister calls for serious concern, especially at this period that certain forces have continued to threaten that she must either resign or be sacked for her action or inaction in the controversial purchase of two bullet proof cars by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA),” Danladi Kumsha, the National Coordinator of the group said.
The Minister, who has been under pressure to resign following a number of plane crashes and a controversial car tender, was not in her car when gunmen fired shots into it.
“The recent fatal dimension of wanting the minister dead came to us as a big surprise. We thank God that the Honourable Minister was not in the car when the incident took place, otherwise the story would have been different by now. Life threatening issues like this must not be treated with kid gloves or politicized. It must not be swept under the carpet; hence we call for full blown investigation,” said Kumsha.
He called on authorities to intensify investigations.
“In fact, the police would have to explore all possible leads particularly whether there is a nexus between the on-going probe of the bullet proof cars purchase deal and the unholy concession agreements in the aviation sector which Ms Oduah’s administration is reviewing and some ethnic zealots who had called for the Minister’s head.”
